Chocolate banana ‘nice cream’

This month, a simple low-fat treat to cool you down. No need for an ice cream machine, just keep chopped bananas in the freezer and you’re ready to go.


2 ripe bananas
2 heaped tbsp chocolate powder*
Chopped chocolate to decorate


Chop and freeze the bananas overnight. Put the frozen chopped banana and chocolate powder into a blender and blend until smooth. It’ll take a while! Keep opening up the blender and scrape down the sides with a spatula because the mixture will be quite thick to begin with. Once blended to the texture of thick cream, you can enjoy straight away or refreeze for half an hour to firm it up.

*Use sweetened chocolate powder e.g. Cadbury’s drinking chocolate or mix your own from cocoa powder and sugar (leave out the sugar if you’re feeling worthy).
