Fiver Fest is coming up again which means a great opportunity for shoppers to snap up bargains!
Last Fiver Fest in October was a great success, with 35 independent shops and businesses across town taking part. They offered a wide variety of treats ranging from bunches of balloons to sauna sessions, all for just £5. Fiver Fest’s message is simple,
“If every adult in Stroud spent just £5 a week in our independent shops & businesses, instead of online or at the big supermarkets, it would be worth an extra £4.5 million per year going into our local economy, which means more jobs, better facilities and a nicer place for us all to live.”
Fiver Fest runs for two weeks from 15-29 February. There will be a downloadable map of town, showing all the businesses taking part. During Fiver Fest, you can find the map at www.stroudchamber.org.uk/fiverfest and use it like a treasure trail of town! Tony Davey of Stroud Chamber of Commerce told us, “One of the benefits of Fiver Fest is that it wakes you up to the diversity of businesses available”.
This year there will be plenty of participants from last time, such as Chris’ Shed, Mosaic, Intrigue, Pashon and Simpson’s Chippy. There will also be new ones including Golden Sheep Coffee, Time After Time, The Warren Food Trailer, Cotswold Pancake Company, Silver Rooms Café and Phetsai Designs. So look out for exciting offers from them!
And it’s not just in Stroud. Fiver Fest is a national event organised by Totally Locally, and there’s quite a buzz online. Last time social media posts about the Stroud event reached over 24,000 people. Tony said, “We all find it heartening, not only to have a good following of local people, but that people have been sharing it widely as well.”
This year, thanks to sponsorship from WSP Solicitors, Fiver Fest Stroud will be contributing to Totally Locally helping the idea grow and support independent shops and businesses all over the country.
